On Sunday the Men's 1s travelled down to Chichester for their second game back in England Hockey's West Conference. Confidence was high after last weeks opening day victory over Cardiff Met, however Chichester had also started well with a 7-2 win over Isca.
It was Chichester who started strongest, dominating the first 10 minutes of the game and taking a 2-0 lead through a couple of well executed penalty corners. However Bristol responded well, controlling possession and crucially getting a goal back just before half through a Rufus McNaught-Barrington penalty corner. 2-1 Chichester at half time.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Bristol having the majority of the ball, while Chichester still threatened, threats dealt with well by Bristol's defence. A scrappy equaliser from Rufus got Bristol right back into the game and with under 5 minutes on the clock Bristol were awarded a penalty stroke after the goalkeeper fouled Josh Hallett. Up stepped Rufus to complete his hat trick and complete the comeback; a huge result for the 1s. 3-2 UBMHC at full time.
The Men host Olton & West Warwicks this coming Sunday at Coombe Dingle, 1.30pm push back... it would fantastic to fill the sidelines once again!
