Match Report: Bristol University v Truro
Final Score: Bristol University 6-1 Truro
Man of the Match: Tom Minall
D*** of the Day: George Cairns
In the early Push back, Bristol 1s took on mid table Truro. Having lost the week before in the top of the table clash against Bath, it was important that Bristol bounced straight back with a win. The match started in ominous circumstances, when Josh Hallett was tripped and rolled his ankle.
However, the gloom did not hang around for long, when Tom Minall latched onto a ball, that was hit across the goal by Harvey Dennis. 1-0 Bristol. A few minutes later Minall got another opportunity when he found space in the D and rocketed the ball into the top corner. The game continued at a heavy pace, when Dennis found the foot of a Truro defender. Up stepped Sam Denehy who duly flicked the ball into the top left-hand corner. The 4th Goal of the half, occurred when a ball was slipped into Harvey Preston, who moved the ball away from the defender towards the D and reverse hit the ball under the foot of the Keeper. There was controversy over whether the ball was in the D, but Truro had used their TMO earlier in the match, and the goal was rewarded. Bristol went into the half with a healthy four goal lead.
The second half continued in similar fashion to the first, with Bristol quickly winning a short corner. Once gain Sam Denehy fired the ball into the top left-hand corner. 5-0. Bristol were now cruising to victory, when some extremely sloppy play at the back gave Truro a 2 on 1 with Bristol’s Keeper, which they duly dismissed. Bristol regained their composure, and late in the half won another short corner. The ball was played to Denehy, who unselfishly played the ball to Jonty. Jonty then stopped the ball for Minall to flick home.
The final score was 6-1. A convincing win for Bristol, who continue to sit in a strong position in the league- 4th, with a game in hand.
