On a cold Saturday morning 14 Johns with 0 hangovers gathered at the now defunct Bar de la Roo for a trip to high flying Marlborough. It was A-dam fine day for a little Tor into into North Wessex, and a quick trip down the M4 meant we weren't Wheating long before our arrival. With Christmas on the horizon it can sometimes be difficult to get the Job(e) done, and on days like this many a strong team can Cave under the pressure.
Some fluid(ish) hockey saw the UBMHC go dos goals ahead and the ship seemed steady, the brace being provided by Zunnett and Buffoni. Then alas, I'm not one to Singh the opposition's praises, but our worst nightmare became Trew before our own eyes. Some mediocre defending saw us ship 3 goals in quick succession, the Harv(ey) time whistle was blown with the gents sitting 3-dos down.
But fear not, it was not long before the team came to each other's (Kinc)aid and Putt the first half's misery behind them. Despite Archie managing to get himself a Green, All was well as 'Borough's lead disappeared in a Buff of smoke following a clinical f.inish from Sean. Buttoni managed to add to his tally with an average shot which probably should have been saved if I'm honest, it's definitely not one to shout about at training/socials/matches for the next month so tell him to shut up if he goes on about a 'worldy' that he scored, he's lying. A last gasp shortie then saw Kincaid sneak another one in, leaving a final score of 5-3 to the UB.
The 2nd XI had Dunn-ett when they needed it most, it's easy to crumble at this point in the year and end Winter-bottom of the table. It just goes to prove that age old saying: in times of struggle, all you have to do is stay calm and Carringt-on.
