Match Report: UBMHC 3s v Aberystwyth
Final Score: UBMHC 7-1 Aberystwyth
MoM: Will Stonehewer-Smith
DoD: Es Wiltshire
This day brought a well travelled welsh side to the land of the Bris. A healthy morning for all as many jars of water were nailed and even a dangerously blue glass of energy drink was chosen by Q to fuel his ambition.
A dingle day always creates a buzz, but today felt different, the bars were filled with fans discussing the events to come, and the libraries lay bare. With the bitter away defeat earlier in the season still fresh in the mind, a fireball of passion was brewing in the bellies of today’s chosen players. A concentrated warm up focused the attention, and a pre game talk got the engines running. Fans started to gather to watch the spectacle that is the UBMHC 3s.
The game got underway, and with the nerves of another loss to the welsh, we started slow. However, it was not before we played out hands. Racing to a 2-0 lead, we felt the control we rightly deserved. A scrappy goal pulled out the bag from Aberystwyth shocked the umpires as much as the players and fans, but we persevered. With the memory of Monday’s training, we worked hard on the fast paced passing, forcing the tiring Aberystwyth to run more. 2-1 at half time, we were fully in control, but not safe.
The second half brought in the harvest, this time only for the Bristolians. Swoods added to his first and Callum got dos as-well, yet neither managed to secure the hat trick. As we all know, assistes get you a good wife. Wiltshire, josh and Stoney also got a goal each. MOTM goes to stoney for his general like performance in midfield, with movement off the ball and passing into space on point. A rare burst through the ranks and into the D got him a well earned goal to add to his highlights.
At 7-1 up, the fans were jubilant, the team were satisfied and the opposition were crushed. A good win and team performance and we all headed off for some socialising and a trip to the circus.
